I set up a swarm trap today less than a hundred yards from our bee yard/orchard. Last year I put them up about 12 feet high. The traps were so heavy (with bees) that it was quite a challenge getting them down while on the ladder. This year I'm going to try a few traps at about 5 to 6 feet high and see how they do. I'm also using a homemade bracket that fully supports the hive instead of just a cleat that it rests on. I still have a couple traps that need to be reset at my folks house too. Each trap gets 2 small slow-release vials of lemon grass essential oil on the inside near the entrance. We'll see how it goes.
